I've had a lot of people say to me "man if it weren't so expensive I'd get one in a second". Well, here are some interesting calculations to think about... 1) Prolonged tire life: Racelogic claims that there can be a decrease in tire wear of up to 40%. I've had my current tires now for 15,000 miles and they still look decent. I typically got only 12-13,000 miles on my AVS intermediates before using the system. Now, let's say that I don't get the full 40%... let's use something more conservative, 15% (which is what I've personally observed thus far). That means if I drive an average of 15,000 miles a year, I need to replace my rear tires once a year using the system and once every 10 months without it. Everytime I have to replace my rear tires, it costs me about $600 for the pair (275/35/18s). So, with the system, it costs me $50/month in tires and without the system, it costs me $60/month. So, if it costs $800 for a traction control unit, it'll take about 6.7 years for the unit to pay for itself! Now, if we look at the extreme case of the unit prolonging tire life by 40%, my "monthly tire cost" would be $42/month and it would end up paying for itself in 3.7 years (using the same numbers as above). This is the only mod that I can think of that ends up paying for itself! Can anyone else think of a basically "free" mod like this (except for precat gutting or taking off your exhaust... lol)?
2) Accident prevention: My insurance has a $500 deductible... and I think that's pretty standard. If this unit saves you from 1 accident, you already have 60% of it paid for! (Just ask Orion about the accident he had the ONE time he turned off his traction control system for a few hours...)
